Completion of Hangar Doors Phase 1 at Greenbrier Valley Airport

We are excited to announce the completion of Phase 1 of the Hangar Doors project at Greenbrier Valley Airport in Lewisburg, West Virginia!

What is K-Con doing at Green Valley Airport?

The project consists of replacing three airplane hangar doors. We will demolish the existing pavement and remaining door connections. Then, we will start the construction of new concrete foundations to support the rolling steel door systems and pre-engineered metal building door enclosure structures. This will “tie in” the new trusses, framework, and doors to the existing pre-engineered metal building hangars. In the last phase of the project, we have teamed up with Assa Abloy. They will erect the steel for the door enclosures and install the rolling hangar doors at the hangars.

What was completed in Phase 1?

Phase 1 included demoing the existing asphalt pavement. Then, we installed the first phase of the three 130′ long by 8′ wide by 3′ deep cast-in-place foundations to support the new doors and door enclosures. Lastly, the hangar door rails, rail heating system, and rail drainage system were installed, and the final pour of the foundations was completed.

When is K-Con starting Phase 2?

Phase 2 will begin in September 2023. It will include erecting structural steel framing and trusses for the hangar door enclosures, installing metal wall panels and standing seam roof panels, and installing new rolling hangar doors and door operators. Stay tuned for the final reveal of the three new hangar doors at Greenbrier Valley Airport!
